1. What does God ask Abram to do when he is 99 years old and what will be the result?
v 1 and 2 ... the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am God Almighty. Walk before me and be blameless. I will make my covenant between me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.”
2. What is to be the name of Sarah’s son?
v 19 ... You shall call his name Isaac. ...
3. What does God promise to do for Ishmael?
v 20 ... I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly. He will become the father of twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation.

- v 1 to 8 God makes a covenant with Abram and repeats and adds to the earlier promises he made to him. He renames him Abraham which means father of a multitude
- v 9 to 14 God tells Abraham to circumcise all males to indicate the covenant God has just made with them
- v 15 to 22 Sarai is renamed Sarah and is told she will have a son. Abraham questions this, but God assures him that he will have a son with Sarah. God's covenant is to be with this son whom they call Isaac. But Ishmael will also be blessed
