learning from the past

A selection of verses encouraging us to learn from what God has done in the past.

Nehemiah reminded the Israelites that as a nation, they hadn't remembered what God had done for them in the past:

Nehemiah 9 verses 16 - 17

16 “But they and our fathers behaved proudly, hardened their neck, didn’t listen to your commandments, 17 and refused to obey. They weren’t mindful of your wonders that you did amongst them, but hardened their neck, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage. But you are a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, and didn’t forsake them.

The Psalmist echoes the same sentiment:

Psalms 78 verses 11 - 12

11 They forgot his doings,
his wondrous deeds that he had shown them.
12 He did marvellous things in the sight of their fathers,
in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.

We can learn to trust in God by looking at what He has done for the Jews in the past. Have a look at the recognising the evidence theme
