Those in Christ can have forgiveness

A selection of verses showing how we can have our sins forgiven.

The Apostle Paul tells us that we become in Christ by being baptised:

Galatians 3 verses 26 - 28

26 For you are all children of God, through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as were baptised into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Paul told the Ephesian belivers about the forgiveness through Jesus Christ

Ephesians 1 verse 7

7 in whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,

Believers are encouraged to forgive one another in the same way that believers are forgiven in Christ:

Ephesians 4 verse 32

32 And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.

Colossians 3 verse 13

13 bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do.

He tells us that those in Christ who walk according to the spirit will not be condemned:

Romans 8 verse 1

1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

The Apostle John says that we have forgiveness through the blood of Christ if we confess our sins:

1 John 1 verses 7 - 9

7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son, cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
