The significance of Jesus' resurrection

A selection of verses showing the significance of Jesus Christ rising from the dead.

Jesus says that those who die, who believe in him, will live again:

John 11 verse 25

25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will still live, even if he dies. 

The apostle Paul tells us that if we are associated with Christ, we can be raised as he was:

Romans 6 verse 5

5 For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we will also be part of his resurrection;

God has not only raised the Lord from the dead, he has power to raise us as well:

1 Corinthians 6 verse 14

14 Now God raised up the Lord, and will also raise us up by his power.

He [God] who raised Jesus from the dead will also raise those who believe:

2 Corinthians 4 verse 14

14 knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus, and will present us with you.

The apostle Peter says that because Christ was raised we can have a real hope for the future:

1 Peter 1 verse 3

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
