1. Why was John sent by God?
v 6 and 7 There came a man, sent from God, whose name was John. The same came as a witness, that he might testify about the light, that all might believe through him.
2. Who did John say he was?
v 23 He said, “I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way of the Lord,’ as Isaiah the prophet said.”
3. What did John say Jesus would do?
v 29 The next day, he saw Jesus coming to him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

- v 1 to 5 In the beginning God made life and light available
- v 6 to 13 John the Baptiser is sent to introduce the light. All who accept the light and believe, can become God's children
- v 14 to 18 God's Word is now shown in His Son, Jesus Christ. In contrast with the law of Moses, Jesus shows grace and truth
- v 19 to 34 John testifies that he is introducing the Christ. John says he has come baptising to reveal the one to come. He identifies Jesus as the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. He is also Son of God
- v 35 to 51 The disciples, Andrew and Peter, come to recognise that Jesus is the Messiah. Jesus calls Philip who brings Nathanael who recognises Jesus as Son of God and King of Israel
